What is usually included
Most reputable villas come fully staffed. Expect daily housekeeping, a manager who is a message away, and very often a cook who prepares breakfast and can shop for other meals. Pool maintenance, garden care and Wi-Fi are standard. Airport transfers, a driver for day trips and babysitting are frequently offered as extras — worth confirming in writing rather than assuming.
Questions worth asking before you book
A few pointed questions save a lot of surprises. Is the pool fenced or gated, and how deep is it? How far is the nearest beach or shop on foot? Are cots, high chairs and stair gates available for younger children? Is the cook's time included or charged per meal, and are ingredients on top? Getting clear answers tells you as much about the owner's professionalism as it does about the villa.
Location, then layout
Choose the area first — Seminyak, Sanur, Ubud and the rest all offer a different holiday — then the layout. Single-storey villas suit families with toddlers who worry about stairs, while a good spread of bedrooms keeps light and heavy sleepers apart. Photos flatter; a quick video call or a recent guest review will tell you what the listing will not.
Book a little ahead for school holidays, read the cancellation terms, and treat the villa manager as your first local contact. Get those basics right and a Bali villa becomes the easiest accommodation you will ever book for a family.
