The Mad
River Valley |
|
|
|
|
|
The rolling,
pastoral countryside of the Mad River Valley is pure in its Vermont
roots -- dotted with cows, barns, covered bridges, and white-steepled
churches. While its legendary skiing attracts winter sports
enthusiasts, unlike many other ski resorts the area is surprisingly free
of crowds and traffic. Its pristine countryside makes it a wonderful
destination throughout the year for bikers, walkers, golfers, riders,
and everyone who after their first visit falls in love with its fresh
air and natural beauty.
The Valley is also home to tight-knit and vibrant communities. Throughout the year a
plethora of cultural activities, arts festivals, and events ranging from
the Mad River Duck Race to the famous 4th of July parade
display the area's creative spirit and sense of humor, as unique as the backwards-flowing
"Mad" River that runs through it.

Called "the
Aspen of the East" (The New York Times,) and ranked in the
top three Eastern ski areas by Skiing Magazine, the Mad River
Valley claims "the most widely varied ski terrain east of the Rockies”.
Over 50 miles of legendary ski and ride terrain
spill from its three mountain areas; Sugarbush alone boasts 111 trails, 2,600
feet of vertical, and over 2,000 acres of wilderness terrain translate into adventure for all abilities. With
a new 45,000 square-foot lodge
bringing "Western-style luxury" (The Boston Globe) to Sugarbush
Resort, the area is at once luxurious and down-to-earth, offering every
type of Vermont skiing experience. |

olde New England skiing’ … anyone who likes chutes, trees, tele-whacking,
cliff-jumping and the ultimate challenge should watch the snow reports:
when powder hits the Greens of Vermont, ski Mad River-if you can.” –
Ski Magazine
“Considered one of America's best-kept secrets, Mad River Glen is
